Artisian Handcraft

Hand guilloché

Guilloché is a traditional technique, which engraves detailed, interwoven lines on surfaces, creating unique light patterns. Chronoswiss excels in this art, producing dials with precise, radiating designs using two main guilloché machines: the straight-line and rose engine. Despite the absence of manuals for over two centuries, Master-Guillocheurs have maintained their expertise through a deep understanding of these machines. Creating one of those complex dials takes several hours. Today, Chronoswiss's guilloché dials stand as both a tribute to and a celebration of this enduring craft, showcasing its timeless appeal with a modern twist.

Materials

Stainless steel

Chronoswiss relies on stainless steel for its durability and sheen. With excellent resistance to corrosion and scratches, stainless steel provides a perfect balance between longevity and aesthetics. Chronoswiss primarily uses high-quality stainless steel in its watches, ensuring everyday practicality along with timeless elegance.

Coating

Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD)

Chronoswiss harnesses the versatility of CVD coatings to infuse watch cases and dials with vibrant hues like blue, purple, and color-shifting tones. This complex gas-phase process enables precise, uniform coatings even on complex surfaces, optimizing for durability, resistance, and aesthetic appeal.

Our Vision

The unique color changes are the result of tireless experiments in a field in which Chronoswiss is a leader: CVD coatings on hand-guilloched dials. Chronoswiss combines this visionary technology with the traditional craft of Guilloché, creating a unique combination that watchmakers in Lucerne refer to only as "Modern Mechanical."
